About Dawn Brewer
A bit about me
I like asking questions, so how about I ask and answer three about me.
So who am I to be writing about management?
I started my career in IT/Computing over 20 years ago and rapidly progressed from junior programmer (Fortran, DEC Basic, Dibol in those days) to senior management roles. I’ve worked as a line manager, project manager and business owner – all these required strong management skills to succeed.
I’ve worked in many different industries (finance, telecoms, software, public sector) and with large (blue chip) and small (self employed and local businesses) organisations.
I now work as a management coach - using coaching, consulting and training skills to deliver benefits for my clients.
What do I know?
I know there’s a lot to know about management – I know we don’t know all the answers - and I know there’s a lot of managers who’d like to know more.
I have a degree and years of experience working with managers at all levels. I also have an MBA in technology management and certificate in education (so I do know how to help people learn).
What do I do?
As well as my work as a management coach I’m also an Associate Lecturer with the Open University (Current courses include Y159 – Understanding Management, and M150 – Data Computing and Information) and an instructor for Learning Tree International (management and personal skills courses). This means I work with many different people working in many different organisations –many trying to solve the same problems!
